The Lakeland men's soccer team traveled to Cuyahoga Community College this afternoon to face off against the Triceratops. The Lakers improved their record to to 2-3 with a convincing 4-1 victory. A key play occurred early in the first half as Lakeland keeper, Dominic Grobler, made a huge save on a penalty kick. After the save, the Lakers picked up their game and controlled most of the half. Unfortunately, the Lakers were unable to solve the Tri-C goalie and went into the break with no score. The deadlock was broken 15 minutes into the second half as Omani Leacock converted on a penalty kick for the Lakers.  Cuyahoga answered back a couple of minutes later as they converted on a corner kick. Xander Bergiers gave the Lakers the lead back as he scored on a play in which the Lakers were building up on the left side. Asher Bayles and Ali Albasar each added a goal late as the Lakers cruised to the victory. Lakeland outshot Cuyahoga 10-5 and held a 7-4 advantage in corners.

Coach Mayer commented after the match, "In general, I was pleased with our effort. A couple of times we had some lapses, but we fought back. I was also happy in that we were able to maintain our composure in a difficult match. We have some things to work on and so we'll do that and I look forward to our match this weekend."

Next Up: The Lakers will travel to Michigan this weekend to play against Lake Michigan College on Saturday. The game time has changed and the match is now scheduled to begin at 11:00am.
