The men's soccer team played host to the Terra State Titans today at Laker Field. The Lakers welcomed former soccer coach, Djuro Peric, who was inducted into the Lakeland Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday evening. Peric was honored in a pre-game ceremony before serving as an honoree coach. Peric gave both the pre-game and halftime speech to the team in the 3-0 Laker victory. Ruach Deng got the Lakers on the board at the 17 minute mark of the first half when he converted a nice cross from Carmen Ningler-Farone. Later in the half, Michel Klein struck a beautiful cross on a set piece to set up Elijah Livingstone to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. Ningler-Farone increased the Lakers lead to 3-0 when he scored with about 2 minutes to play in the half. On the goal, Omar Inga picked up the assist as he set up Ningler-Farone. Ningler-Farone took the pass from Inga and struck for the goal on a shot just outside the box. After the break, the teams played fairly even with neither team getting a strong scoring opportunity. Till Oppermann picked up the win in net for the Lakers as he was credited with 6 saves.

Next Up: The Lakers will play host to Lake Michigan College next Saturday (9/30) at 1:00pm. They will then face off against Muskegon Community College on Sunday (10/1). Game time is scheduled for 11:00 am.
