The Lakeland men's soccer team played host to the Lake Michigan Redhawks and came away with a convincing 4-2 win. Omar Inga got things started for the Lakers as he ripped a shot into the upper corner from just outside the box 15 minutes into the match. Ruach Deng picked up the assist on the goal. Both teams would have some opportunities for the next 20 minutes, but the Lakers carried the play overall. With 7 minutes to play in the half, the Lakers would strike again as Kyle Roundy tackled the Red hawk defender and then sent a square pass to Carmen Ningler-Farone who buried it for a 2-0 Laker lead going into the break. The second half started similar to the first half as the Lakers possessed the ball for much of the play. Kyle Roundy would give the Lakers a 3-0 advantage on a strong individual effort. On the play, Roundy dribbled down the left side of the field beating a Redhawk defender before blasting a low shot past the keeper. Roundy would get his second goal of the afternoon when he again beat a Redhawk defender and shot from the outside of the box into top corner. The Lakers were in cruise control and made mass substitutions allowing the Redhawks to score a couple of late goals. Lakeland keeper Till Oppermann was credited with 13 saves and a clean sheet in 83 minutes in net.

Next Up: The Lakers will have a quick turn around as they play host to the Muskegon Jayhawks tomorrow (10/1). The match is scheduled to kickoff at 11:00 am.
