The Lakeland women's basketball team traveled to Lorain County today and came away with a convincing 69-39 victory over the Commodores. With the win, the Lakers improved to 10-2 (3-0) on the season. The Lakers jumped to a dominating 18-2 lead just 6 minutes into the game and then never looked back. During the opening run, the Lakers took advantage of a few Commodore missed shots and 7 turnovers. The game started on a Mya James steal that led to a Madison Fueger layup. After Lorain missed a 3-point attempt, Alesia Marshall scored a bucket to give the Lakers a quick 4-0 lead. Lorain would then connect for a basket and both teams traded turnovers before Gianna Pegoraro connected for a layup and a 6-2 Laker lead. A Commodore turnover then led to Fueger connecting on a jumper. On the next Lorian possession, Pegoraro stole the ball and connected on a layup for a 10-2 Laker lead. Later, after a Lorain miss, Makayla Gordon would score a layup on an assist from Alesia Marshall. After a missed Commodore shot, Mya James would score on a layup on a pass from Gordon. A Lorain turnover would lead to another Fueger basket from Micaha Marbury. The Commodores would miss another shot just before another Laker bucket from Fueger to give the Lakers an 18-2 lead. Lakeland would continue to roll the rest of the game and cruise to the victory.

Madison Fueger led the way for the Lakers scoring 28 points and 20 rebounds. Fueger also recorded 5 blocked shots. Gianna Pegoraro also finished with a double-double as she added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Mya James finished her night with 9 points and 5 steals while Alesia Marshall also picked up 5 steal and 4 points in the win.

Gardy's Gab: "Our defense was exceptional from the start of the game to the finish. We were able to force over 20 turnovers which was the key to the game."
