The Lakers women's basketball team traveled to Owens Community College to face the Express in OCCAC action today. Owens is currently ranked 2nd in DIII by the NJCAA. The Lakers battled all game and came away with a 60-52 victory. With the win, the Lakers improved their record to 16-2 overall and 6-0 in the OCCAC. This was the first time the Lady Lakers have won at Owens in well over a decade. Coach Gardenhire commented,"That was an exciting game. Both teams played extremely hard. We got down a bit early, but were able to battle back as we made some big shots." It was a game of contrast as the Express controlled the glass while the Lakers defense won the turnover battle. Gardenhire continued, "This was a real dogfight as Owen's is a very tough and physical team. They played tough defense at every position. I'm really proud of our team's effort. We worked hard and showed the kind of team we can be."
