The Lakeland women's basketball team traveled to Toledo to face off against the Owens Express tonight. Lakeland jumped out to a quick start riding 3-pointers from Hilda Ismail, Mya James, and Trinity Jackson in a 20 point first quarter. The Lakers also had a consistent defensive effort to earn the win. Monica Devine and Layla Von Berndt had strong inside defensive play as they were able to control the Express post players throughout.

Batoul Khaleefah led the Lakers in scoring pouring in 19 points while both Mya James and Trinity Jackson finished with 17 points each. Hilda Ismail had a consistent game scoring 8 points while Akira Lacey chipped in 4 points in the Laker win.

Gardy's Gab: "I was pleased with our effort as we played a strong 40 minutes tonight. They worked hard and also played solid defense all night. It was a nice team effort and I am really proud of the team."

Next Up:  On Saturday, the Lakers will host the same Owens Express at Laker Gym. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
