The Lakeland women's basketball team traveled to Hocking College tonight and fell in a tightly contested 76-69 game to the Hawks. The two teams were close throughout. The Hawks took advantage of the Lakers with their size while Lakeland battled with their press and different defensive pressures. The game came down to the last 30 seconds as Layla Von Berndt connected on a layup to knot the score at 69 with 28 seconds to play. The Lakers were then whistled for a foul and the Hawks connected on their free throws. Lakeland missed on its next posession and the Hawks were able to hit more free throws to close out the win.

Lakeland finished with 3 players in double digits. Trinity Jackson led the way with 21 points while Lauren Perry added 15 points for the Lakers. Batoul Khaleefah scored 10 points while Hilda Ismail chipped in 8 points. Mya James and Layla Von Berndt each finished with 6 points for the Lakers.

Gardy's Gab: "It was a really good game. Both teams competed hard. Unfortunately we just weren't able to execute well enough when we needed to. Credit Hocking for hitting their free throws and unfortunately we didn't connect on enough of them. We need to regroup really quickly as we have another tough challenge on Wednesday."

Next Up: The Lakers will play host to the Terra State Titans on Wednesday in Laker Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
