The Lakeland women's soccer team traveled to Livonia, MI today to face the Ocelots of Schoolcraft College and were upended 2-0. With the loss, the Lakers now stand at 7-7 (5-7). The Lakers will need a strong effort and victory in their next game and then a possible makeup with Kellogg CC to qualify for post-season. In the contest, Lakeland was outshot 20-6 and outcornered 8-0; however, despite those stats, the game was much closer than it would seem. The teams played to a 0-0 draw in the first half. In the second hald, Schoolcraft finally broke through in the 55th minute on a goal from Taylor Meadows.  Meadows was also credited with the second goal at the 75 minute mark. In between, Gina Grandini made an excellent save on a high shot as she was able to direct it over the crossbar. Mya Cannaday also had an excellent scoring opportunity in the half. On the play, Cannaday dribbled into the goal area, beat the Schoolcraft keeper with the dribble, and then took the shot. Unfortunately for the Lakers, an Ocelot defender came in to deflect the ball away at the last moment.

Sivik's Sentiments: "We played well and executed our game plan for most of the game. Aria (Evans-Roskos) was brilliant for us in the midfield. Gina (Grandini) made a couple of great saves and our team defense was much better than the last time against them."

Next Up: The Lakers travel to Port Huron, MI on Saturday (10/30) to take on the Skippers of St. Clair County Community College at 2pm.
