Women's soccer sinks Titans

The Lakers womens soccer team played host to the Terra State Titans on Wednesday at Laker Field. Lakeland took control of the match early and rolled to a convincing 7-0 victory over the Titans.  With the win, the Lakers improved their record to 2-1 on the year. In the balanced attack, the Lakers had 6 different players score goals. Ashlen Horowski got the Lakers on the board first as she scored an unassisted goal by dribbling around the keeper and tapping it into the net at the 21:13 mark of the first half. Domunique Wright scored the Lakers second goal with 16:30 to play on a nice pass from Kassie Emmett. Amijah Simons completed the scoring in the first half as she picked up a rebound and tucked it into the net. Christina Vanah started the Lakers off in the second half as she picked up an errant pass from the Titan keeper to put the Lakers up 4-0. Olivia Ditzel scored just 3 minutes later when she hit a long crossing ball that went over the keeper and into the net. Vanah netted her second goal of the game when she scored on a breakawy with 15 minutes to play. Lakeland's final goal came from Lila Malkamaki as she converted on a penalty kick with 3 minutes to play.

Dominuque Wright and Lila Malkamaki split the game in net and each was credited with a save.

Next Up: The Lakers play host to the St. Clair County CC Skippers on Saturday (9/10) at Laker Field.  The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
