Womens soccer surges to victory

The Lakeland women's soccer team traveled to Lorain County Community College tonight and came away with a 5-2 win over the Commodorres. The Lakers carried much of the play in the first half, however, the score was tied 2-2 at the break. Theresa Santilli scored the Lakers first goal of the year as she converted on a cross from Shelby Nagy. Nagy would score the other first half goal for the Lakers on an assist from Gabrielle Carley. Carley finished her night with 2 assists. In the second half, Lakeland's Gracie Amato exploded as she collected 3 goals picking up her first collegiate hat trick. Overall, the Lakers outshot the Commodores 22-6. Lillyan Agostine picked up her first collegiate win as she was credited with 4 saves.

Gracie Amato was named the Lakers player of the game.

Mallon's Mentions: "I was very pleased with our team effort today. We were able to connect on some nice passes and created some good scoring oppotunities. We have some areas that we will continue to work to improve on and look to carry that into our next game."

Next Up: The Lakers will travel to Kellogg Community College on Friday (9/1) to play the Bruins in a 4:00 pm tilt.
