The Lakeland women's soccer team played host to the Lorain County Commodores today at Laker Field. The Lakers domintaed play throughout the game and earned a 6-0 victory. Theresa Santilli got the Lakers on the board just 8 minutes into the game as she picked up her own rebound and drove it past the Lorain keeper. Shelby Nagy then scored the next three Laker goals to record a hat trick. On the first goal, the Lakers chipped a ball over the Lorain defense about 40 yards from the goal. Nagy exploded by the Lorain defender and picked up the ball scoring on what became a breakaway. Nagy's second goal came courtesy of a cross from Anna Green. Nagy picked up the pass and then shot the ball at the Lorain keeper. Nagy continued to follow the shot and picked up her own rebound to net the goal. The hat trick was finalized when Nagy had a breakaway on the right side. On the play, Micaha Marbury was charging hard in the middle of the field drawing a defender. Nagy was able to slide in and net her third goal of the afternoon. The Lakers went into the break with a commanding 4-0 lead.

In the second half, the Lakers continued to control play. Lakeland worked hard on their passing and their ability to possess the ball. With 35:30 to play in the game, Anna Green dribbled into the box and then slid a nice pass on the right side to Ashlen Horowski. Horowski wasted no time as she beat the keeper to extend the Lakers lead to 5-0. The Lakers final goal was scored when Gracie Amato picked up the ball about 35 yeards out. She then deftly went by two Commodore defenders before ripping the shot past the netminder for the Lakers final goal of the afternoon.

The Lakeland players of the game were Lila Malkamaki for her defensive effort and Shelby Nagy and Ashlen Horowski for their offensive exploits.
