The Lakeland women's soccer team played host to the Terra State Titans in the nightcap of a soccer doubleheader at Laker Field. The Lakers jumped out to a 1-0 lead when
Lila Malkamaki converted on an assist from Theresa Santilli. On the goal, Malkamaki took the pass and dribbled through a couple of Titan defenders before ripping a shot past the Titan keeper. Carli Salatino set up the Lakers second goal when she passed to Laker Shelby Nagy on a free kick in the box. Nagy wasted no time as she beat the Titan keeper for a 2-0 Laker lead. Late in the half, the Titans cut the lead in half as they scored on a counterattack. The teams would go into the half with a 2-1 Laker lead. In the second half, Nagy would record her second goal of the afternoon on an assist from Ashlen Horowski.

The Lakers players of the game were Lila Malkamaki, Carli Salatino, Shelby Nagy, and Layla Von Berndt.

Mallon's Mentions: We had a very good match today. We were playing well and set our passing record of 278 successful passes in the match as we were playing a slow build up style. It was nice to see Carli and Layla play a strong defensive game. Lila really stepped up with some dynamic dribbling when picking up her goal while Shelby was able to play defense the whole game and still lead us in scoring. I am really proud of the whole team effort - it was a really nice effort by everyone."

Next Up: The Lakers will play host to Lake Michigan College next Saturday (9/30) at 3:00pm. They will then face off against Muskegon Community College on Sunday (10/1). Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
