Women's soccer caged by Jayhawks

The Lakeland women's soccer team played host to the Muskegon Jayhawks today. Lakeland, missing 5 starters due to injuries, battled hard, but fell in the nightcap by a score of 4-0. The Jayhawks wasted little time as they scored a minute into the game off of a corner. The Jayhawks would build a 3-0 lead as they converted consecutive penalty kicks at the 7 and 8 minute marks. Lakeland would play a defensive game in trying to limit the Muskegon quality scoring chances while looking for a prime choice of their own. The score would remain until the Jayhwaks converted at the 78 minute mark. On the goal, the Jayhawks would convert a nice thru pass that split the Lakers defense. Lillyan Agostine had a tremendous game in net being credited with 23 saves. Offensively, Shelby Nagy led the Lakers with four shots while Carli Salatino added two shots in the Laker loss.

Next Up: The Lakers will travel to Marian University Ancilla College next Saturday (10/7) for a Region XII match. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 pm.
