The Lakeland volleyball team continued play in the Owens volleyball tournament today and took losses on both ends of the doubleheader losing to Mott Community College 3-0 (8-25, 16-25, 19-25) and Kellogg Community College (25-27, 12-25, 17-25). After the Mott bears game, Coach Miozzi said, "We played hard. Our serve receive and defense was better today. We got better every game. Madison Tatka really stepped up and played very well all around in this match."

Match two against the Kellogg Bruins was not as kind to the Lakers. Lakeland suffered a heart-breaking 25-27 loss in the first match and then were never able to quite recover. Despite a valient effort, they were unable to sustain the presure and committed some untimely errors. Miozzi commented,"We competed hard in thie first match but then got down on ourselves a bit after we loss the first game. We need to learn to keep battling throughout as there will be adversity in almost every match at some point. Overall, we improved our defense and our serve receive the past couple of days which should really help us a lot as we move into conference play."

On the day, Maisie Burlison led the way with 8 kills, 9 blocks, and 3 aces. Erica Merth finished the day with 12 kills and 3 blocks while Madison Tatka chipped in 8 kills. Tatianna Matuz finished the day with 29 assists.
