The Lakeland women's volleyball team played host to the Lorain County Commodores on Wednesday night and dropped a 3-0 decision in Laker gym. The scores of the match were 16-25, 15-25, 15-25. The Lakers battled early in all three matches, but were unable to maintain the pace in each game. In every game, the Lakers would make a run to keep it close and then committ an unforced area or make a mistake on the serve to help stifle their effort. Throughout, they continued to work hard, but just fell short. Erica Merth played a strong game at the net for the Lakers and Kaitlynn Minarik played well in the libero roll. Maisie Burlison and Madison Tatka also played well at the net while Tatianna Matuz had a strong game setting. Tory Leck and Lindsey Fergus had good defensive games for the Lakers.

Stats were not available at time of print.

Tippie's Tidbits: "We played better as the match wore on - especially in the third game defensively. Kaitlynn had a nice game in the libero position - played well on the back row. We just made too many errors and missed too many serves. We have some time to get back in the gym and practice some things now.  We'll look to do that - make some adjustments - and get ready to play after this little break in league play."

Next Up: The Lakers will play next Wednesday (9/14) at Kent State Tuscarawas in a non-league match. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
