Lakers volleyball falls in thriller

The Lakeland volleyball team played host to the Terra State Titans on Monday and dropped an exciting 3-0 match by the scores of 22-25, 23-25, and 25-27.  All three games were very evenly played as both teams battled. Unfortunately, for Lakeland, they came up short in this excitong match. Maisie Burlison led the attack for the Lakers with 9 kills and 8 blocks on the day. Erica Merth also had a strong night with 6 kills, 5 aces, and 3 blocks for the Lakers. Madison Tatka and Astianna Coppes each recorded 7 kills in the loss. Tatianna Matuz picked up 20 assists for the Lakers. Coach Miozzi stated, "This was the best we have played this season as a team. Erica and Maisie had really strong games, but everyone played a part which was good to see. I was really pleased with our effort. We will work to clean up some of the errors and then I really think we'll take a huge step forward. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do this weekend."

Next Up: The Lakers travel to Edison State to take on the Chargers on Friday night at 6:00pm. On Saturday, they will visit Clark State to take on the Eagles in an 11:00 am match.
