Lakers volleyball negated by Chargers

The Lakeland womens volleyball team traveled to Edison State in Piqua on Friday and dropped a 3-0 decision to the Chargers. The scores of the games were 16-25, 17-25, and 13-25. The Lakers were coming off of one of their best played matches of the year, but were unable to continue that trend. Coach Miozzi commented,"It was a difficult match for us, we typically are pretty strong in the middle, but we just didn't have our best games. Too many errors. Edison is a good team, but we just couldn't get our legs under us today to compete the way we are capable. Tip your cap to them. We need to get this one behind us as we have a quick turn-around, I'm confident that we'll come out swinging tomorrow".

Astianna Coppes led the team with 12 kills while Madison Tatka finished with 7 kills. Maisie Burlison collected 5 kills and and 2 solo blocks and Erica Merth added 4 kills and 1 block. Tatianna Matuz recorded 21 assists for the Lakers.

Next Up: The Lakers will continue the road trip as they head to Springfield, OH tomorrow to face the Eagles of Clark State. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am.
