Lakers volleyball downed by Commodores

The Lakeland volleyball team traveled to Lorain County Community College today and dropped a 3-0 decision to the Commodores. The scores of the match were 22-25, 16-25, and 13-25. The Lakers downfall was keyed in the first match. Lakeland held a 20-16 advantage in the first game before they committed some untimely errors that led to their ultimate defeat. In game 2, they fell behind 10-1 early and could never recover while the Commodores closed out the match in game 3. For the Lakers, the season long trend comtinued where they had their chance to take games, but ultimately were unable to overcome unforced mistakes at criticall times of the match. Coach Miozzi commented, "We certainly had our chances and actually played very well in game 1 before we broke down. We continue to be unable to finish out games. Our team is very capable - we will get back at it and try to finish the season strong."

Maisie Burlison finished the night with 10 kills and 5 blocks while Erica Merth collected 8 kills and 2 blocks. Astianna Coppes and Madison Tatka each added 6 kills while Tatianna Matuz added 27 assists in the defeat.

Next Up:  On Friday, Lakeland will play host to Edison State in a 6:00 pm match against the Chargers.
