The Lakeland volleyball team traveled to Edison State tonight to face the Chargers in OCCAC action. The Lakers were unable to shake off the bus legs and fell to the Chargers 3-0 (14-25, 7-25 and 9-25). Throughout the match, the Lakers had some good rallies and strong defensive plays to keep the games tight early, but ultimately the Lakers were unable to fend off the Chargers.

Avrie Shenkel, Kaitlynn Minarik, Astianna Coppes, and Erica Merth all had 3 kills apiece. Defensively, Minarik led the Lakers with 10 digs while Jordan Morman and Lindsey Fergus each finished their night with 8 digs. Merth and Shenkel each chipped in 6 digs in the match.

Watts' Word: "We made more mistakes than we could come back from, but the team really played with great attitudes and effort today - really great to see. We had some great rallies that gave us some hope, but Edison had the better edge tonight. We are looking forward to tomorrow and hope to collect a road W."

Next Up: The Lakers continue the road trip tomorrow (9/14) as they face the Clark State Eagles at 11:00 am.
